My response to Inside Higher Education article of Feb 28, 2017.
DeVos: Black Colleges Are 'Pioneers' of 'School Choice'
I believe that the comments by Secretary DeVos further demonstrate that she does not have the experience or knowledge on many issues facing education. By not understanding the history of racism in the US and the education system she insults people who do. Black colleges developed and survived despite lack of funding and attempts to close them down. There is a rich history to be told there. Naive comments by someone who we look to for leadership hurts us all, whatever our race or level of education.
